Equipment
All fishing anglers must catch fish on rod and reel. The angler must fight and bring in the fish unaided by any other person. IGFA rules apply. No angler can bring a mutilated fish to the weigh-in stations.

Registration
All anglers on boats must be registered. The only exception is charter boat, captains and mates with registered anglers on board. No captains or mates may touch the line or rod for anglers. Captains and mates may register as a participating angler if they are chartered.

Eligible Fish

The Greater Barracuda only!
The anglers have the choice to either Catch & Release or Harvest the fish. The eligible fish for Catch & Release have to measure an overall minimum of 30 inches. Fish may not be brought into the boat to be measured (tie the measurement tape to a stick and measure the fish while it is on the hook in the water). All fish measuring 30 inches plus will be awarded 50 points.

Anglers catching a barracuda of 50 inches overall or more have the option to bring it to the weigh-in stations. The estimated weight of a 50 inch fish is 35 lbs. The weighed fish will be awarded one point per pound.
No angler can bring more than one fish to the scales.
Fish, brought to the weigh-ins not meeting the minimum of 50 inches, will be penalized 100 points.

Every fish has to be caught on the day of the tournament and documented on photo or video, including the fish with the measurement band, the individual angler or team card and the proof of time and date. Fish brought to the weigh-in stations have to include documentation of “location caught”, i.e. GPS numbers (needed for barracuda studies of University of Miami).

In the event of a tie, the time of documentation at the weigh station will take precedence.

All fish brought to the weigh-in stations become property of the Bare-Ur-Cuda tournament and will be donated to the University of Miami’s RJ Dunlap Marine Conservation Program, upon their request.
